Creating a Spa – “Ahhhh” Bath COULD add $5,000 to your pocket!!

Follow these simple tips to create that serene bath your buyers will love!

Have you ever gone to a Spa and felt so pampered in a beautiful surrounding?   It’s an unforgettable feeling, right?   A few simple tips can turn any bathroom – no matter how dated – into a serene spa that will connect instantly with your potential buyers.    And it won’t cost you $15,000 to overhaul your entire bath!   Elevate your bath with these simple, inexpensive tips:

    • White glove clean is key for any of your bathrooms while you are on the market.   Scrub and use elbow grease to make sure your bathrooms shine.
    • Remove all throw rugs off the floor.   They make the bathroom look smaller and are an “ick” factor for potential buyers.
    • Clear the counters (No toothbrushes, cups, dirty hand towels, etc.)
    • Stow any trash cans or scrubby brushes/plungers out of sight.  Again, another “ick factor”
    • If your lighting is outdated, finding a simple fixture at Home Depot or even Amazon can help bring your bath into the future!  Metals should always match so if you have brushed nickel faucets, stick with brushed nickel lights, etc.    (or matte black or gold)
    • If your budget can afford it, swap out faucets or even your shower head (a hand held shower head is even better!)
    • Update mirrors if you can swing it budget-wise.
    • Changing out cabinet pulls/handles is another way to update inexpensively.  If possible, consider painting chipped worn cabinets in a fresh coat of white paint!
    • Make sure you have pump soap and a fresh hand towel in case buyers want to use the rest room.

Now to add the finishing touches on your bath!

    • Purchase only decent quality WHITE towels (Target is a great place to source them).   A few rolled towels on the bathtub also go a long way in recreating that spa-feeling.
    • Use a faux orchid on your vanity to elevate the ambiance.
    • Add artisanal soap to your vanity or a container of bath salts and a bath brush
    • Bring in ambiance with a battery-operated candle (NO burning candles!  These could create a fire-hazard and I tell all my clients do not leave ANY candles burning in your home for showings)
    • Add a hotel-quality white shower curtain (Again Target has these) and you are on your way to creating a bathroom that will thrill your potential buyers!
